Designated a National Heritage Corridor by Congress in 1994, The Last Green Valley is a natural treasure filled with rolling green pastures, serene woodland trails, wildlife, bountiful farms, sparkling clean waterways, and scenic town commons and greens.

The Last Green Valley's name came to be from a satellite image from space. When you look at the area along the eastern seaboard from Washington DC to Boston it's all lights, but there is this one little dark spot. This little dark spot is now referred to as The Last Green Valley. Comprised of 35 towns — 26 in Connecticut, 9 in Massachusetts, The Last Green Valley remains 78% open space - 695,000 acres of forests and farmlands. A jewel among the coastal sprawl of the East Coast, it is where the industrial revolution occurred; and it's where some of our nation's greatest leaders and stateman came from. It is a place of inspiration, history, culture, and natural beauty.
Visit the Last Green Valley website before you arrive and discover what is happening in and around the area when you are in town.
