LADIES OF MERCEDES
LUNCHEON & WINERY
August 4 - Space is Limited to 49!

Join us on Thursday, August 4th and step back in time among grand historic homes, rolling  hills, lush village greens, and quaint antique shops and boutiques in Woodstock, Connecticut.

The Ladies of Mercedes will depart from the Mohegan Sun by bus at 10:30 AM to arrive at the Inn at Woodstock Hill, in Woodstock, Connecticut at 11:30.

Woodstock, located in the northeast corner of Connecticut was originally settled as part of Massachusetts. In1749 it incorporated and became part of Connecticut. Primarily a farming community, in the early 19th century industry found its way to this quaint town for a time before returning largely to a farming community and becoming a popular summer destination for wealthy east-coast families. Today, Woodstock is the second-largest town in Connecticut and is known for Roseland Cottage, the former summer home of wealthy businessman Henry Bowen.

Luncheon will be served at The Inn at Woodstock Hill, which is situated prominently on 14 acres at the southern approach to Woodstock Hill. According to the history of the Inn, the main house was originally constructed in 1816 for William Bowen, a descendant of Henry Bowen, one of the thirteen settlers of Woodstock in 1686. William was the grandfather of Henry C. Bowen who built nearby Roseland Cottage.

The property remained in the Bowen family until 1981 when it was bequeathed to the University of Connecticut. In 1985 the farm returned to the family, and the buildings and adjacent land were subsequently purchased by a consortium of investors converting the main house and barn to an inn and restaurant, known as "The Inn at Woodstock Hill." Most of the farmland remains in the Bowen family as it has for three centuries.

Vines, Wines and Pleasant Times

The Ladies of Mercedes-Benz will visit one of the Connecticut Wine Trail's finest wineries, Taylor Brooke Winery following our luncheon at the Inn. Taylor Brook creates its own wines from its 7,500 carefully tended vines. Their philosophy of wine making reflects that of their family's - a sense of living... strong roots, a tender touch, caring manner, nurturing environment, and a commitment to quality.

Taylor Brooke also sells a wonderful selection of CT cheese, sausage, crackers, dips, etc. to enjoy with your glass or bottle of wine.

We will leave Woodstock at about 4:00 PM to be back at Mohegan Sun by 5:00. While no open bottles are permitted on the bus, purchased unopened bottles are permitted.
